Three Warren Central powerlifters advance to state meet

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Three Warren Central High School powerlifters have advanced to the state meet after strong performances Thursday at the North State competition held at Neshoba Central High School.

Samuel Ross led the Vikings with a first-place finish in the 220-pound weight class. Ross recorded a combined total of 1,450 pounds across the squat, bench press and deadlift.

Chase Johnson finished third in the 165-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,110 pounds.

Rod Ford also placed third, competing in the 148-pound weight class with a combined total of 915 pounds.

The MHSAA state powerlifting meet will be held March 28 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
