Two Vicksburg residents named IDEAList at Hinds CC

RAYMOND, Miss. (VDN) — Hinds Community College has named its Spring 2025 IDEAList honorees, recognizing 11 employees who exemplify the institution’s core values of Integrity, Diversity, Excellence, Accountability, Leadership and Stewardship. Of the 11, two are from Vicksburg.
The college selected recipients from various campuses and departments, highlighting their service, leadership, and dedication to student success and community engagement.
In alphabetical order, the Spring 2025 IDEAList honorees are:
- Robyn Burchfield of Clinton serves as Director of Development and Scholarships in the Foundation office on the Raymond Campus. A seven-year employee, she manages scholarship funds and supports fundraising initiatives. She is a graduate of McComb High School, Southwest Mississippi Community College, and Mississippi College.
- Matthew Campbell of Vicksburg teaches Culinary Arts and History on the Vicksburg-Warren Campus. He has worked at Hinds for nine years.
- Omarr Conner of Ridgeland is the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for the football team. He is a graduate of Noxubee County High School and Mississippi State University, with previous coaching experience at Yazoo County and Louisville high schools.
- Deshanna Dixon of Utica works as the Student Services Coordinator on the Utica Campus. A nearly four-year employee, she previously taught in Jackson Public Schools. She is a graduate of Raymond High School, Hinds, Jackson State University, and Belhaven University.
- Talinceya Finley of Richland teaches Social Sciences on the Utica Campus. With just over two years at Hinds, he holds degrees from Jackson State University and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
- James Harper of Vicksburg is Director of Small Business Development on the Raymond Campus. He has served the college for 19 years and is a graduate of Warren Central High School, Hinds, Mississippi State University, and Mississippi College.
- Shirley Henderson of Clinton is a Learning Lab Specialist on the Jackson Campus. A 10-year employee, she graduated from Rosa Fort High School in Tunica, Hinds, and Jackson State University.
- Kathy Jones of Raymond works as a procurement/travel specialist on the Raymond Campus. She has spent 24 years at Hinds, including 20 years in the bookstore. She graduated from Warren Central High School and Hinds.
- Catherine Odom of Pearl has been a Practical Nursing Instructor at the Nursing Allied Health Center for three years. She holds degrees from Vicksburg High School, Hinds, Mississippi University for Women, and Capella University. She is currently pursuing further education at Arkansas State University.
- Elmira Ratliff of Canton is Academic Dean for the Utica and Vicksburg-Warren campuses. She has been with Hinds for nearly 10 years. Her academic background includes J.Z. George High School, Alcorn State University, Mississippi College, and a doctorate from the University of Mississippi.
The IDEAList award program honors employees who go above and beyond in supporting the college’s mission and values across its multiple campuses.
