Update: Harris to stand trial for the murder of Jasmine Adams

Vicksburg, Ms-A trial has been scheduled for Carlos Harris who is charged with murder in Vicksburg. Harris is accused of shooting and killing his then-girlfriend Jasmine Adams in 2018. He is also charged with Possession of a Weapon after a felony conviction.

Harris appeared in court on Monday where Judge James Chaney set his trial date for the November 18th term(Nov. 18-Dec. 9). Assistant District Attorney Branan Southerland will prosecute the case.

On August 22, 2018, Police responded to the 300 block of Lakehill Drive where they found Adams dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The initial report was that there was a home invasion. He and Adams’ children were inside the home at the time of the killing and were unharmed.

In 2019, the Vicksburg Police Department arrested Harris, and he was officially indicted by a grand jury in 2023. 

Adams was 25 years old at the time of her death. If convicted, Harris faces a maximum life sentence.
