Three Separate Shootings Overnight; One Injured
VICKSBURG, MS – One person was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound during a night that had three separate shootings in Vicksburg.
The third shooting happened just after 1 a.m. A woman was shot in her lower body while walking on Warrenton Road. At least two people are in custody related to that shooting.
The woman was walking near the Ridgeland Inn in the 600 block of Warrenton Road. According to a person who described themselves as a family member, someone they had seen a few minutes earlier at Circle K started shooting at them. The family said there were five or six shots, and then there was another round of six or seven shots.
Three people were taken into custody from the shooting. It is unknown at this point if all three arrests are related to the shooting.
The woman’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
At about 9:45 p.m. Sunday night, numerous people reported hearing gunshots on Speed between Letitia and Drummond. Vicksburg Police focused on the home at 1107 Speed Street and were seen in that area searching for shell casings on the ground. Neighbors described that address as having a lot of activity over a long period.
No one was reported injured in that shooting.
Three shots rang out in Marcus Bottom a few minutes later, around 10:30 p.m. Several area residents reported hearing three shots. Vicksburg Police responded to the 2500 block of Halls Ferry, near the public park. Two individuals, a male and a female, were taken into custody at that location
There are no known injures related to that event.
