VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Fire crews quickly responded to a utility pole fire Monday afternoon in the 40 block of Maxwell Drive, ensuring the scene was secured without injury, said Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps.

The Vicksburg Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 4:02 p.m. behind the Texaco Food Mart near the Pizza Inn on Clay St. for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters located a utility pole fully involved with flames and live electrical wires.

“Our crews coordinated with Entergy to cut power to the pole before moving in to extinguish the fire,” said Stamps. “The team handled the situation safely and efficiently.”

The blaze was brought under control without further incident. No injuries were reported.
