VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)—Vicksburg native and former Warren Central High School football standout Malik Sims has committed to play at Sul Ross State University.

Sims, who most recently played at Mississippi Valley State University, announced his decision Saturday.

“I will not be playing at Mississippi Valley this year, and I didn’t receive my medical redshirt when I was injured at Mississippi Delta in 2023,” Sims said. “I want to thank Coach Buckley and all the Mississippi Valley coaches for helping me out and trying to get me to play football. With that being said, I will be committing and taking my talent to Sul Ross University.”

Sims last saw game action in 2023 at Mississippi Delta Community College, where he recorded 40 tackles. He also spent time at Hinds Community College earlier in his college career.

Sims is a 2020 graduate of Warren Central High School, where he played under head coach Josh Morgan.
