Vicksburg native Nick Anderson has now surpassed 100 tackles in the Canadian Football League. Anderson, who is in his rookie season, officially surpassed the 100-tackle mark in the Edmonton Elks’ 23-18 win over Calgary. He grabbed eight tackles and one sack in the win.

Saturday’s performance puts Anderson as the CFL’s current lead tackler with a total of 106 on the year. Behind Anderson in tackles in the CFL are Nyles Morgan(103), Tyrice Beverette(97), and Darnell Sankey(94).

The Elks are 6-11 this season with the help of Anderson who also has one interception and the sack on the year. They will play their final game of the regular season on Friday, October 25, against the Argonauts.

Anderson joined the Elks’ organization earlier this year after a short stint with the New Orleans Saints. He starred at Jones College before transferring to Tulane. He chose Tulane over the University of Louisiana-Monroe, Ole Miss, and South Alabama. In his four years with the Green Waves, Anderson finished with 357 tackles and six sacks.

Anderson is a graduate of Vicksburg High School.
