Warren Central freshmen finish perfect season with win over Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School’s freshmen football team capped off a perfect regular season Tuesday with a 48-14 victory over crosstown rival Vicksburg. The Vikings improved to 6-0 and will advance to the Little Six Championship next week.
The first quarter ended scoreless until Doss Morgan intercepted a pass as time expired and returned it 40 yards to the one-yard line. Quarterback Cameron Zellous punched it in on the next play for the first points of the game.
Warren Central’s defense continued to shine in the second quarter with another interception returned 20 yards for a touchdown by Patrick Southerland, extending the lead to 12-0.

Zellous then connected with Morgan for a 50-yard touchdown strike, followed by a 25-yard scoring run from Braylen Selvy to make it 26-0.

Vicksburg’s Rico Thomas broke a long run before halftime, but the Vikings held firm.
Thomas opened the second half with a kickoff return for a touchdown, cutting the deficit to 26-6. The Vikings answered quickly as Zellous threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Selvy and added a 15-yard scoring run of his own.

Jordan Taylor capped the third quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run, and Zellous ran in the two-point conversion to push the lead to 48-6.
