Warren Central sweeps Columbus in district doubleheader

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren Central High School baseball team picked up two district wins on Friday in a double-header against Columbus, improving to 8-8 overall and 2-0 in district play.

In Game 1, Warren Central shut out Columbus 14-0. Trace Hood went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Hays Loper hit a double and drove in a run, while Caden Cole (1 RBI) and Nathaniel Moore each finished with one hit. Ryan Steed also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the win.

Maddox Lynch threw a no-hitter and struck out nine batters. Steed struck out one in relief.

In Game 2, the Vikings earned an 11-0 victory over Columbus. Loper hit two triples and drove in one run. Tristan Jamison had two hits and three RBIs, while Lynch added a double and two RBIs. Lester Martin (1 RBI), Hood, and Hayden Blok each had one hit.

Jamison struck out six batters and allowed zero hits. Thomas Antwine struck out four batters and allowed zero runs batters.

The Vikings are now 2-0 in district play and will travel to play Neshoba Central tonight.
