Warren Junior High athletes shine at MHSAA Middle School State Track Meet

Leading the way was Corey Hicks, who earned a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with an impressive time of 14.78 seconds. Hicks has been a standout competitor this season and is currently ranked third in the state in that event. He also holds the number one ranking in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking a top time of 15.75 seconds, according to MileSplit Mississippi.

Teammate Derrijye Wince also brought home hardware, securing third place in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 8 inches. His performance highlighted both his athletic ability and consistency throughout the season.

David Gunner Ferguson added to the team’s success by achieving a personal record in the 3200-meter run, finishing with a time of 12:09. His effort reflects the determination and growth seen across the entire team.

This season marks the first year of participation in track and field for this Warren Junior High School entire team. Making these accomplishments even more significant. With a roster full of developing talent, the team has quickly established itself as a competitive force.

Coaches Bates and Batty expressed pride in the achievements of these athletes and the team as a whole. With a strong foundation now in place, the future looks bright for the Warren Central Junior High track program.
