Vicksburg, Miss.-Warren Central High School boys’ soccer team secured a first-round playoff win after defeating Lake Cormorant 7-3 on Tuesday night.

“We don’t get the respect that we deserve but these guys stepped up and played tonight and the next team we play will be tough too,” WC Head Coach Greg Head said. “I’m proud that they played hard.”

LC got on the board first but WC tied the game at 1-1 after a penalty kick by Reed McClurg. As the game advanced it began to get more physical between the two teams but Jacob Porter managed to score twice before halftime to give WC a 3-2 lead.

Coming out of halftime, WC turned things up a notch as Daniel Westcott scored within the first minute. Luke Bond was up next as he got the ball through the net from a headshot. Westcott eventually scored again with an assist from Duke Esparza.
