Vicksburg man killed in multi-vehicle crash

VICKSBURG, Miss. – A Vicksburg man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Hinds County on Saturday. The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to MS-18 near Cidero Road at 11:54 a.m. where the head-on collision occurred.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash. 39-year-old Glenn W. Matthews Jr. of Vicksburg was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he died later that day.

The following vehicles were involved in the multi-vehicle crash:

  • A 2018 Cadillac XT5 driven by 39-year-old Glenn W. Matthews Jr. of Vicksburg travelling west on MS-18
  • A 2008 Toyota driven by 45-year-old Melissa Berryhill Spencer of Utica travelling east on MS-18
  • A 2018 Nissan Murano driven by 39-year-old Jimika Scott of Utica travelling east on MS-18 (71-year-old Linda Scott and a minor were passengers)
  • A 2020 Dodge Ram driven by 55-year-old Jeffery Billot of Utica travelling east on MS-18

Melissa Berryhill Spencer died at the scene, according to a press release. Jimika Scott and Linda Scott were also taken to UMMC with unknown injuries.

The press release also stated that the Cadillac collided head-on with the Toyota and then side-swiped with the Dodge, causing the Toyota to collide with the Nissan.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
