WARREN COUNTY, Miss. – A structure fire on Gowall Road was reported this afternoon. Initial reports stated that the home was currently not lived in, however updated information reports that someone does live in the home, but was not home at the time of the fire.

Gowall Road is located off of Highway 61 N, just past the Washington Street intersection.

The fire burned long and hot before the call was made to 911. Once firefighters arrived on the scene and were able to make entry, they were initially unable to locate the source of the fire. The fire was determined to be trapped between the ceiling and the metal roof, and with the man power on hand they could not get to the source of the flames. While working to remove smoke and contain the fire, the fire spread to the back of the structure causing firefighters to move focus their efforts to the back of the structure to fight those visible flames. While they were knocking those flames down, the fire burned through the middle of the structure, and due to the intense heat, quickly spread throughout the house.

No injuries are reported at this time, and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
