10 local athletes earn All-State Football honors
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Ten local athletes have been named to the All-State Football Team, including eight players from Warren Central High School and two from Vicksburg High School. The selections were announced over the weekend, recognizing standout performances from both programs.
For Vicksburg High School, Wallyss Curry and Marquis Knight earned spots on the 5A First Team Defense. Both played under Head Coach Christopher Lacey and helped lead the Gators to the first round of the playoffs.
Curry, a dominant linebacker, finished the season with 142 tackles. Knight contributed on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and defensive back, recording 231 receiving yards, two touchdowns, 13 tackles, and one interception.
Warren Central was heavily represented with Nash Morgan, Daniel Pitzer, Jonah Artman, Carmelo Clark (2nd team), Chaka Walker, Jamari Gaines (2nd team), Fabian Davenport (2nd team), and Landon Green (2nd team) all named to the All-State Team.
Pitzer and Clark anchored the Vikings’ offensive line, which helped produce nearly 1,500 passing yards and 3,500 rushing yards in 2025. Morgan, the star quarterback and state championship game MVP, threw 12 touchdowns for 1,457 yards and rushed for 1,575 yards and 27 touchdowns, including four scores in the title game.
Linebackers Green, Davenport, and Walker were key pieces of the defense. Green recorded 53 tackles, Walker added 74, and Davenport led the team with 115 tackles and five sacks.
Gaines, the lone WC defensive lineman selected, finished with 86 tackles and three sacks.
Artman represented special teams, delivering 29 touchbacks, converting 57 of 59 extra points, and averaging 39.6 yards per punt.
Each Warren Central player competed under Head Coach Josh Morgan, who guided the Vikings to the 6A State Championship on Friday.
