14-year-old dies, 15-year-old faces upgraded charges in Vicksburg shooting

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A 14-year-old boy has died from injuries sustained in a Sunday shooting at the Park at Milestone Apartments, and police have charged a 15-year-old suspect in the case, the Vicksburg Police have announced.

Vicksburg Police Capt. Curtis Judge identified the victim as 14-year-old JaZachary Williams. The suspect, 15-year-old Ramonta May was arrested following the altercation.

May was initially charged with aggravated assault and held on a $350,000 bond. Capt. Judge said charges will be upgraded following Williams’ death. May is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, when bond is also expected to be reconsidered.

The case remains under investigation.
