20-year-old dies on the job on Hwy 3 in Warren County

A 20-year-old has died on the job in Warren County. The man was working at the wood plant adjacent and to the southwest of International Paper on Highway 3 yesterday when he collapsed.

Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was declared deceased by Warren County Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess. Per Mississippi law, when someone dies on a jobsite thier body is sent to the crimelab for an autopsy.

An initial survey of the incident indicates no foul play or fault of the place of employment. The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Karl Merritt ll.
