EDWARDS, Miss.(VDN)—A tragic incident unfolded Thursday evening in Edwards, Mississippi, as the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) launched a homicide investigation following a fatal stabbing. Authorities responded to reports of a violent altercation in the 1100 block of Jones Road around 5:30 p.m.

The victim, identified as 33-year-old Keeslee Jarrell Stewart, was found with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital by private vehicle, but despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

In the immediate aftermath, investigators named Stewart’s older brother, 40-year-old Donnell Otis Stewart, as a person of interest and issued a public alert seeking information on his whereabouts. The case sparked concern in the tight-knit community, and HCSO urged anyone with knowledge about the incident to come forward.

Within hours of the alert, officials confirmed that Donnell Stewart had been taken into custody. Authorities have not yet released details about what led to the confrontation or the circumstances of the arrest.

The investigation remains ongoing as deputies work to piece together the events that led to the fatal encounter between the two brothers. The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to those who responded to the call for information and reminded the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact HCSO at 601-352-1521 as the case continues to develop. The case at this time is being investigated as a homicide and charges are currently pending.
