Vicksburg man pleads guilty to manslaughter

Vicksburg man charged with first-degree murder in Sunday's shooting 26-year-old Christopher Troy Williams Jr.

Christopher Williams appeared before Judge James Chaney, who accepted the plea and immediately sentenced him to 20 years in prison.

Williams was initially charged with first-degree murder in the death of 31-year-old Melvin Harris. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene following a shooting outside Waleed’s Gas Station in September 2025.

Williams’ bond was initially set at $2 million by Judge Angela Carpenter.

Following sentencing, Williams was transported to the Warren County Jail. He will later be transferred to the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
