Delta Utilities acquires Entergy's natural gas utilities

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN)Delta Utilities, backed by Bernhard Capital Partners, announced the completion of its acquisition of Entergy’s regulated natural gas distribution operations, a move that strengthens its footprint across the Gulf South and bolsters natural gas infrastructure throughout Louisiana and Mississippi.

The acquisition includes Entergy’s service to approximately 109,000 customers in New Orleans and 95,000 in East Baton Rouge Parish. Earlier this year, Delta Utilities also completed a separate acquisition from CenterPoint Energy, adding 380,000 customers and expanding service into 35 Mississippi counties—including areas in and around Vicksburg.

“Today’s acquisition represents a transformative moment as we continue expanding Delta Utilities’ footprint into New Orleans and Baton Rouge,” said Pete Tumminello, Executive Chairperson of the Delta Utilities Board of Directors. “We’re welcoming over 200 dedicated employees from Entergy and strengthening our ability to deliver safe, reliable energy to communities we serve.”

About Delta Utilities

Delta Utilities, now a $1.7 billion organization, is headquartered in New Orleans and has created more than 100 new corporate jobs to support its operations. The company offered continued employment to approximately 200 Entergy workers, achieving 100% acceptance and ensuring continuity of service for customers.

The acquisition has no immediate effect on customers’ rates or service. Residents who were previously serviced by Entergy will be automatically transitioned to Delta Utilities, with no interruption. New account setup instructions and details on billing services such as Auto-Pay and Paperless Billing will be provided in customers’ first bills and are available online at DeltaUtilities.com.

Delta Utilities now operates nearly 18,000 miles of pipeline across 37 parishes in Louisiana and 35 counties in Mississippi, serving approximately 600,000 customers.

What does this mean for us?

In Vicksburg and across Warren County, the expanded infrastructure and service network could mean improved reliability and increased investment in energy resiliency—an important consideration in a region vulnerable to severe weather and natural disasters.

“Completing this acquisition underscores our deep investment in Louisiana and represents a major step toward developing modern, multi-state natural gas utilities that foster stronger, more resilient communities,” said Tim Poché, CEO of Delta Utilities.
