VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — St. Aloysius boys’ basketball team defeated Cathedral 62-52 on Monday night. The Lady Flashes took a loss to Cathedral.
“We looked really good especially on defense and I think this was our best performance so far,” Carter Henderson said.
Boys:
St. Aloysius opened strong, jumping out to a 21-11 lead in the first quarter. Carson Gleese put up the first points of the night on a layup, while Carter Henderson hit three key corner shots. Carson Henderson added multiple buckets of his own, and Alan Stauts knocked down a 3-pointer to extend the advantage.
In the second quarter, only Garrod Bunch and Tre Lee scored for the Flashes as Cathedral chipped away at the margin. St. Al held a 27-24 lead at halftime.
The Flashes regained their momentum in the third quarter as Carson Henderson and Lee each hit a 3-pointer. Carter Henderson added two more baskets to create breathing room.
Gleese took control in the fourth quarter to help secure the win. He finished with a team-high 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
“Defense kept us motivated the whole game and we shared the ball very well,” Gleese said.
