WC freshmen sweep Germantown in dominant home wins

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School’s freshmen girls’ and boys’ basketball teams rolled to blowout wins over Germantown on Monday, sweeping the ninth-grade matchups at home.

The Lady Vikes opened the night with a dominant 35-3 victory, holding Germantown scoreless until the fourth quarter and taking a 13-0 lead into halftime. Madelyn Wallace knocked down two 3-pointers and led WC with eight points. Kabria Hodge finished with seven, while Armani Marley and Tyra Williams each scored six. Harmony Ester added four points, and Paris Williams and Detrianna Butler chipped in two apiece.

Germantown’s only points came from a single 3-pointer by Jeriya Dorteh.

Warren Central’s boys’ team followed with a 68-25 win to improve to 11-0 on the season. Ja’Ven Lee led all scorers with 17 points, and Jordan Taylor joined him in double figures with 13. Cameron Zellous scored eight, while Braylen Selvy and Semiko Moody each had seven. Jarrad Williams added six points, Henry Trisby scored five, and Jordan Younger and Doss Morgan each finished with two. Delvin Thompson Jr. knocked down a free throw to round out the scoring.

For Germantown, Jerado Horn scored 13 points and Rhys Dyess had six for the Mavericks. Carson Crump added four, and T. Hayes scored two.

Warren Central will host Rosa Scott on Thursday.
