VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School quarterback Nash Morgan has officially surpassed 1,000 rushing yards this season, adding another milestone to what has already been a breakout year for the Vikings’ dual-threat leader. Morgan reached the mark during last Friday’s 42-14 win over Center Hill, a performance that showcased both his power on the ground and his efficiency through the air.

Morgan entered the game needing just a little under 100 yards to hit the 1,000-yard benchmark, but he wasted no time proving he was capable of more. The junior finished with 181 rushing yards, pushing his season total to 1,106 and lifting his average to well over 100 rushing yards per game. He accounted for four touchdowns in the win — three rushing scores and one passing.

His passing production has also been a key factor in Warren Central’s success. With Friday’s effort, Morgan now has 1,105 passing yards and nine passing touchdowns. His combination of 1,000 passing and 1,000 rushing yards places him in rare company among Mississippi high school quarterbacks.

Morgan has benefited from strong support up front. The offensive line — Daniel Pitzer, Marquise Overton, Kemariyun Coffie, Patrick Bowman and Carmelo Clark — has anchored the Vikings’ offense all season. Tight ends Layton Lee and Saleh, along with fullback Fred Mixon, have also played key roles in the team’s blocking schemes, opening lanes for Morgan’s success on the ground.

Warren Central will host Lake Cormorant this Friday in the second round of the playoffs. A win would advance the Vikings to the North State title game and continue what has already been an impressive postseason run.
