VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Jordan Polk, a Warren Central High School soccer standout known for her scoring power and relentless drive, officially signed her college scholarship Wednesday to play at Itawamba Community College. The moment marked the start of a new chapter for the senior forward who has been at the heart of the Lady Vikes’ success in recent seasons.

“I’m very excited and I’m definitely going to miss playing with my best friends, but I’m excited for a new chapter,” Polk said.

Polk chose ICC over multiple junior college offers, including Hinds, East Central, Southwest, East Mississippi and Co-Lin. In the end, she said Itawamba felt like home.

“I really liked the coaching staff and the campus is really pretty and they have a great program,” she said.

Polk has played a major role in leading Warren Central to back-to-back North State Championship appearances under head coach Jeremy Lawrence. A natural scorer, she broke the school’s single-season record with 28 goals last year and now sits at 94 for her varsity career — a testament to her consistency and impact.

Midway through her senior season, Polk said she is savoring every remaining moment of high school soccer.

“I’m sad because when I was younger I was ready to go to college, but now that it’s here I get sadder before every game,” she said. “Senior night is next week, so I’m going to try to keep it together.”

With Polk leading the attack, the Lady Vikes have reached North State twice, and she believes the team is capable of pushing even further this year.

“It’s all up to God but I have a strong feeling that we’re going all the way,” she said.

Polk said signing with ICC is a milestone built on years of support and sacrifice.

“I have to thank God for giving me this ability to play and the talent,” she said. “I also want to thank all my teammates and coaches over the years along with my family.”

Polk is the daughter of Max and Danea Polk.
