VHS freshmen advance to the Little Six Tournament after defeating Clinton

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg High School’s freshman boys’ basketball team earned a spot in the Little Six Tournament after defeating Clinton on Thursday night. The Gators held on for a close 41-39 victory over the Arrows to keep their season alive and extend their postseason hopes.

Antwuan Chiplin led Vicksburg with 11 points in the win, helping set the tone offensively. Cayleb Logan also scored in double figures, finishing with 10 points as the Gators relied on balanced scoring throughout the night. Gerrick Durrell delivered a clutch performance with eight points, contributing key baskets down the stretch. Daylen Atkins added five points, and Daylon Washington knocked down a 3-pointer to give Vicksburg an additional boost. Chareck Cable capped the scoring with four points to round out the effort.

The win puts the Gators one step closer to their postseason goals as they shift their focus to the next challenge. Vicksburg will travel to face Brandon on Monday in the next round of tournament play.
