Warren Central picked up road wins over Port Gibson
PORT GIBSON, Miss. (VDN) — Road wins over Port Gibson highlighted a bounce-back night for the Warren Central High School basketball teams on Friday, as both the Lady Vikes and Vikings picked up victories after losses the night before.
The Warren Central girls earned a 43-20 victory over Port Gibson behind a fast start and balanced scoring. The Lady Vikes jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the first quarter and held a 15-11 advantage at halftime. Ka’Ryn Henderson and Arrionna Jenkins scored consistently in the paint early, while Ana Kayne Bridges knocked down a 3-pointer before the break to keep Warren Central in control.
Warren Central pulled away in the second half as Shaniya Lewis provided a spark by hitting timely baskets and converting free throws. Camara Evans also scored efficiently to help extend the lead and put the game away.
Jenkins and Evans led the Lady Vikes with 12 points each. Lewis finished with eight points, while Henderson and Keasia Williams added four points apiece. Bridges rounded out the scoring with three points as Warren Central held Port Gibson to 20 points on the night.
The Warren Central boys completed the sweep with a 50-43 road win over the Blue Waves. With the football season complete, the Vikings returned to full strength and showed improved chemistry on both ends of the floor.
Deric Gibbs Jr. led Warren Central with 19 points. Robert Williams added a strong all-around performance with 11 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks. Davon O’Neal finished with nine points, six assists, three rebounds and three steals. Jaylen DeFrance contributed six points and four rebounds, while Micah Moore chipped in three points and five rebounds. Landon Lumpkin scored two points as the Vikings closed out the road victory.
