MCCOMB, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg High School boys’ basketball team continued its strong play on the road Friday night, defeating McComb High School 60-48 to secure its second consecutive win. The victory followed an earlier road win over Port Gibson and showed steady improvement from the Gators as the season progresses.

Vicksburg set the tone early, taking a 16-10 lead in the first quarter. Marlyn Foy opened the scoring for the Gators, while Jadarius Henderson knocked down a pair of shots to help build the early advantage. The game tightened in the second quarter, but Vicksburg maintained control and carried a 28-24 lead into halftime. Jaquez Jones and Jaquez Marshall each came up with key baskets late in the half to keep the Gators in front.

The Gators gained momentum coming out of the break. Jones drilled a key 3-pointer early in the third quarter, and Foy teamed with Marshall for a series of strong finishes in the paint. Vicksburg extended its lead and continued to apply pressure on both ends of the floor.

Jayden Stewart provided a boost in the fourth quarter, knocking down a couple of timely shots to help seal the win. Jones led Vicksburg with 16 points, while Foy added 13. Stewart finished with eight points, Marshall scored seven, and Henderson and Daquan Warfield each contributed six points. Jordan Clay and Devin Banks rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
