HATTIESBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Malik Franklin, a Vicksburg native, scored 15 points to help William Carey University cruise to a 115-87 victory over Southern University at New Orleans on Dec. 18, continuing a strong stretch of play for the Crusaders. The win marked William Carey’s fourth consecutive victory, with Franklin playing a key role during the current run.

Franklin is in his first season with the Crusaders and has quickly become a consistent contributor in the lineup. He is averaging 13.7 points per game while providing scoring depth and energy on the offensive end. His performance against SUNO was another example of his ability to produce efficiently within the team’s system.

Earlier in December, Franklin turned in his best outing of the season by scoring 23 points against Blue Mountain Christian. He followed that effort with additional standout performances, posting 22 points against Southeastern Baptist and 21 points in a matchup with Talladega College. Those games helped solidify his role as a reliable scorer for William Carey as the season progresses.

The Crusaders are scheduled to return to action on Jan. 3 when they host Talladega College in another nonconference contest. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Clinton Gym as William Carey looks to build on its momentum and extend its winning streak.
