“This event is about bringing Ward 1 together to take pride in our community,” said Alderman TJ Mayfield. “When we work together to improve our neighborhoods, we build not just cleaner streets, but stronger connections and resources that will benefit people.”

In addition to cleanup efforts, residents can take advantage of several free community resources and activities, including free food, health fair services, voter registration, expungement, and financial literacy. A shred truck and pill collection will also be available at Vicksburg Junior High School, providing residents with a safe way to dispose of sensitive documents and unused medications, courtesy of AARP and the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. For convenience, multiple dumpster sites will be open throughout Ward 1, including Stanfield Church Parking Lot (1304 Lane St), Vicksburg Jr. High School Parking Lot, and the Kings Empowerment Center (224 RL Chase Circle).

Volunteers are encouraged to come out early, wear comfortable clothing, and be ready to make a visible impact across the community. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Kings Empowerment Center, where vests, trash bags, and grabbers will be distributed. For more information, contact Alderman Mayfield at 601-631-3770 or Sh’Vante Wiggins at 601-532-0192.
