Local Author Shares Powerful Story of Redemption in New Book “Meth 2 Marathons”

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — What started as a life marked by addiction, incarceration, and hopelessness has turned into a story of redemption, purpose, and impact. Local author, recovery advocate, and peer support leader Trey White is proud to announce the release of his new book, Meth 2 Marathons, now available on Amazon and Kindle.

In Meth 2 Marathons, White shares his raw and honest journey—from being a ten-time convicted felon battling addiction to becoming a voice of hope for others walking the same road. The book is not just about overcoming substance use; it’s about rebuilding a life, facing the weight of the past, and learning how to move forward with purpose, even when things aren’t perfect.

“I spent years believing my story was too far gone to ever be turned around,” White said. “I didn’t know anyone who had lived the way I had and made it out. This book is for the person who feels like that—like there’s no way out. I want them to know there is.”

Today, White serves as a Peer Bridger at Mississippi State Hospital, where he helps individuals transition from inpatient treatment back into the community. He is also a board member for the Association of Mississippi Peer Support, a facilitator for peer support trainings, and a member of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health Planning and Advisory Council. His work focuses on helping individuals move from survival to stability, and ultimately into a life of purpose.

Beyond his professional roles, White’s mission is deeply personal. He wrote Meth 2 Marathons to give hope to those who are still struggling, as well as to those in correctional facilities and treatment centers who may feel forgotten.

“This book was healing to write, but it wasn’t easy,” White added. “It meant being honest about my past, knowing my family has their own version of those same moments. But I also knew if I wasn’t real about what I lived through and how it actually felt, it wouldn’t mean anything to the person who needs it most.”

White is also working to get copies of the book into Mississippi Department of Corrections facilities and rehabilitation centers across the state, believing that the right message at the right time can change the direction of someone’s life.
