VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Dr. Emily Williams, founder, president and executive director of Micah’s Mission, is one of two women honored in WJTV’s Remarkable Women of 2025. Williams and Sue Magee, director of the nonprofit P.E.A.R.L.S. for Girls, were selected from more than 150 candidates.

Each March, Nexstar Media Group Inc. celebrates Women’s History Month by highlighting remarkable women who have made a difference in public policy, social progress and the quality of life in their communities.

Dr. Emily Williams founded Micah’s Mission in 2017 after noticing that many homeschooled children had disabilities or learning challenges that required additional support. She set out to create a program to help them succeed.

“It is an educational mission where we work with children who are educationally at risk. It’s a K-12 micro school, but we have evolved into a learning and resource center as well. So, we work with kids who might have dyslexia. We work with those that have other learning disabilities or like I like to say, I like to say that they’re different learning abilities, so we just learn in a different way,” Williams said in an interview with WJTV. “And so, we just we work with students that maybe we’re in a space that they they were at risk for failing in their traditional school. They were at risk for giving up on life.”
