Jae’la Smith commits to Alcorn State University
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Jae’la Smith, a Vicksburg native, has committed to play basketball at Alcorn State University, she announced Tuesday on Facebook.
Smith recently completed her second season at Pearl River Community College, where she averaged 11.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. The Lady Wildcats finished 22-6 this past season, with Smith emerging as one of the team’s leading scorers. Among her highlights was a 21-point performance against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
A graduate of Porter’s Chapel Academy, Smith played under head coach Casey Fisher and she was selected as the Vicksburg Daily News Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year.
