Manhunt suspect

The Vicksburg Daily News reached out to the Vicksburg Police Department, which has yet to respond. Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said his deputies were alerted by VPD that they were behind a vehicle that had been stolen in the city.

VDN has since learned that the vehicle was in a parking lot off of Lee Street, near Ergon Marine.

The vehicle fled east from that location and, at some point, turned south on Highway 27 with VPD units in pursuit. The vehicle continued south on 27, and as it approached the Big Black between the first relief bridge and the actual bridge, the suspect drove the vehicle into a marshy area west of 27 at the relief bridge. The suspect abandoned the vehicle there and fled into the marsh. Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies have been assisting the VPD in capturing the fugitive. In addition to the multiple units, drones, and two K-9 units were employed.

The fugitive was last seen running into the marshy area west of Hwy 27 at the Big Black relief bridge.

Law enforcement believes they have identified the fugitive, but no official release of their name or identifiers other than a “white male” has been made. Law enforcement units remain in the area and are encouraging anyone who sees a white male walking on Hwy 27 to call 911.

Sheriff Pace wanted to remind the public to lock their vehicles and secure their weapons.
