Extra Table FEEDS expands team to help fight hunger across Mississippi

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — As Extra Table FEEDS celebrates 16 years of feeding food-insecure Mississippians, the organization is proud to announce the addition of Lilly Williams as its new Director of Development, marking the hiring of the nonprofit’s third full-time employee.
As Director of Development, Williams will lead fundraising efforts for the statewide nonprofit food bank, helping grow support for Extra Table FEEDS’ mission of providing nutritious food to Mississippians facing food insecurity. Extra Table currently distributes more than $95,000 worth of food each month to 66 food pantries across Mississippi while receiving zero federal government support.
Founded in 2009 by restaurateur Robert St. John, Extra Table FEEDS exists to raise funds to purchase nutritious food and deliver it free of charge to soup kitchens and food pantries serving food-insecure Mississippians across the state.
“Adding a third full-time employee is a major milestone for Extra Table FEEDS,” said Martha Allen, Executive Director of Extra Table FEEDS. “Our impact has grown tremendously over the years, and Lilly’s addition to the team represents our continued commitment to expanding and serving more Mississippians in need in the most efficient and effective way possible. Meals matter, and dollars make the difference. We are thrilled to welcome someone with Lilly’s heart, energy, and passion to help lead that effort.”
Williams grew up in the Washington, D.C. area but has called Jackson home for the past eight years. She is an active member of First Baptist Church Jackson and a member of the Junior League of Jackson. Williams also has deep Mississippi roots through her husband and his family, as well as her extended family who all reside in Jackson.
“I am incredibly honored to join the Extra Table FEEDS team,” said Williams. “The work being done here is truly meaningful. Feeding children and families is one of the most important things we can do for our communities, and I am excited to meet supporters, partners, and pantry leaders across the state and get to work helping grow this mission. I can already see how special Extra Table FEEDS is, and I am grateful to be part of this important work.”
The Extra Table FEEDS team looks forward to seeing Williams do great things as the organization continues its mission of fighting food insecurity across Mississippi.
