VWSD announces summer food program
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Warren School District (VWSD) is proud to announce the launch of its Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), which will operate June 3 through June 30, 2026, providing free, nutritious meals to children across the community.
Through this federally funded program, children 18 years of age and under will have access to free breakfast and lunch, helping ensure that students continue to receive healthy meals while school is not in session.
This year, VWSD is expanding access by offering multiple convenient meal service options, including:
- On-site meals for students enrolled in summer school
- Meal support through community summer camps and school athletic programs
- New this year: 6-7 day meal boxes, providing a full week’s supply of breakfasts and
lunches for eligible children
“Our goal is simple. Every child in our community has access to nutritious meals, even when school is out,” said Dr. Keba Laird, Director of Child Nutrition for Vicksburg Warren School District. “We’ve intentionally designed this program to be both accessible and efficient for families, while maintaining strong program integrity.”
To participate, all households must complete a registration form by Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Only one registration form per household is required. The registration link and QR code are: https://forms.gle/eGi7XVYq2Yi1MD1v5
Important Program Requirement
Each child may only receive meals through one SFSP service option at a time. Children participating in summer school, camps, or athletic programs where meals are provided are not eligible to receive meal boxes during that same period.
Registration Deadline:
Wednesday, May 27, 2026 (No late registrations will be accepted.)
