VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — According to Census data, Mississippi ranks first in the country for homes with no internet.
The data reveals 369,351 households in Mississippi, 32.2% of the state, have no home internet. That means either no subscription at all, or a cellular plan standing in for one. It’s the highest share of any state in the country.
The share is highest in Tallahatchie County at 71.0%. The largest raw count is Hinds County, where 24,000 homes have no home connection. Nationally, it’s about one in five households.
The figures are 2024 American Community Survey five-year estimates, table S2801, the most recent county-level data the Census publishes.
