USASE welcomes McMillon

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announces the selection of Ron McMillon as the new Safety and Occupational Health Manager.

In this role, McMillon will lead the Vicksburg District’s safety programs, focusing on regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and accident prevention to support successful mission execution across the district’s area of responsibility.

McMillon brings more than 28 years of experience in construction, safety management, and emergency response to the Vicksburg District. He previously supported USACE at the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health and has extensive knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and federal safety standards. His technical expertise includes the Corps of Engineers Safety and Occupational Health Management System (CE-SOHMS), supporting the protection of personnel, facilities, and mission operations.

Throughout his career, McMillon has contributed to and supervised high-visibility construction projects in domestic and overseas locations. He has worked closely with military organizations, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams to integrate safety requirements into construction engineering and project- management activities.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District is engineering solutions to the nation’s toughest challenges while advancing its commitment to building infrastructure, not paperwork. The district delivers vital missions across a 68,000-square-mile area spanning portions of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Its area of responsibility includes nine major river basins and approximately 460 miles of mainline Mississippi River levees, supporting flood risk reduction, navigation, environmental stewardship, and resilient infrastructure for the region.
