VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Harry Eugene Barnes, age 70, passed away on September 16, 2026, in Vicksburg, Miss., at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 11, 1955, in Vicksburg to Ike K. and Mamie R. Barnes.
Barnes graduated from Warren Central High School in the Class of 1973. After completing his education, he built a long and steady career as a carpenter. He worked at various industrial locations and later in maintenance at local hotels and casinos. He eventually became self-employed as a carpenter and continued that work until his retirement in 2014.
Beyond his work, he found enjoyment in bowling and appreciated the fellowship and routine that came with time spent among friends and family. He also valued his church connections at Open Door Bible Church and Hawkins United Methodist Church, and most recently at Bovina Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Kynsleigh Claire Barnes.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pam S. Barnes, his sons and daughters-in-law Wesley E. Barnes (Kim), AJ Barnes (Jamie) and Matthew H. Barnes (Audrey); and his grandchildren, Landon Barnes, Aubrey Barnes, Emersyn Barnes, Kash Barnes, and Myles Barnes. He was a cherished brother to Ike K. Barnes, Jr. and his wife Dale, Oscar A. Barnes, Sr. and his wife Pat, and Mike M. Barnes and his wife Melody. In addition to extended family, he leaves behind close friends; especially The Bowling Stones.
