Vicksburg, Mississippi – January 15, 2025

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®️Mu Xi Omega Chapter of Vicksburg, Mississippi, celebrates its 117th Founders’ Day with a heartfelt acknowledgment of its legacy of sisterhood and service. Founded on December 17, 1978, the chapter has consistently upheld the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®️ making a profound impact on the Vicksburg community under the leadership of President Jannifer F. Banks and Vice President Toni Fisher-Lowe.

A Year of Service and Impact:

The celebration highlights the chapter’s ongoing dedication to community service. Over the past year, the Mu Xi Omega Chapter has spearheaded a variety of impactful initiatives aimed at fostering growth, providing resources, and empowering the Vicksburg community.

•   The Pearls Girls Club: The chapter continues to nurture young girls through mentorship, education, and leadership development programs.

•   The Ivy Harvest Community Garden: With over 41 families served, the garden initiative has addressed food insecurity by providing fresh, nutritious produce to local families.

•   Senior Citizen Celebrations: Honoring the wisdom and contributions of senior citizens, the chapter hosts events to celebrate and engage this cherished population.

•   Juneteenth Observance: Mu Xi Omega recognizes the historical significance of Juneteenth with celebratory and educational events that promote unity and understanding.

•   Voter Registration Drive and Rally: A cornerstone of the chapter’s civic engagement efforts, the drive empowered citizens to exercise their voting rights and fostered a culture of active participation.

•   Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast: Members attended the annual event hosted by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., commemorating Dr. King’s legacy of justice and equality.

•   Community Luncheon: To honor local trailblazers, the chapter hosted a luncheon celebrating the achievements of notable members of the Vicksburg community.

•   Heart Health Awareness: In alignment with Alpha Kappa Alpha’s commitment to health advocacy, the chapter hosted a health fair focused on raising awareness about heart health.

Honoring the Legacy, Embracing the Future:

During the Founders’ Day celebration, President Jannifer F. Banks reflected on the chapter’s steadfast commitment to service. “As we honor 117 years of excellence, Mu Xi Omega remains dedicated to uplifting our community.
