VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Amari Johnson, a Vicksburg High School standout soccer player, has committed to continue her athletic and academic career at East Mississippi Community College. The commitment was announced Thursday on social media, with the EMCC soccer staff sharing the news on Facebook.

Johnson has been a key contributor for the Missy Gators throughout her varsity career, playing under head coach Maurice Gilliam. Known for her speed, scoring ability and overall field awareness, Johnson has been established as one of the program’s most productive and consistent players.

During her junior season, Johnson posted impressive numbers, finishing with 24 goals and 15 assists while helping lead Vicksburg High to a strong campaign. Her offensive production and leadership made her a constant threat for opposing defenses and a focal point of the Missy Gators’ attack.

One of Johnson’s most memorable performances came in November when she delivered a dominant outing against Riverside High School. In that match, Johnson scored six goals to power Vicksburg High to an 8-0 victory, showcasing her scoring instincts and ability to take over a game.

Johnson is expected to bring that same level of competitiveness and production to East Mississippi Community College. An official signing ceremony will be announced at a later date.
