Bobbie Joe (Shipp) Nevels, 1939-2024

Bobbie Joe Nevels departed to her heavenly home on February 5, 2024 at River Region Medical Center. She was 84 years old. She was a loving wife, mother, Mamaw, stepmother, and friend. Her actions were always selfless as she cared for everyone around her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Barney and Lily Shipp; four children, J.W. Nevels, Jr., Debra Wyatt, Lucinda “Cindy” Emrick, and Gary Nevels.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Elvin “Leon” Nevels; daughters, Barbara Acuff (Jimmy), Peggy Cousins (Tommy), Angela Nevels, and Cathy Hughes; sons, Larry Nevels and Elvin Nevels, Jr.; 16 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Glenwood Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Roger Cresswell. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: John “Tony” Bulluck, Tommy Cousins, Quint Mason, Jason Morson, Jamie Acuff, and Shane Acuff. Honored to serve as honorary pallbearers: Elvin Nevels, David Acuff, Trinity Emerick and all of her great-grandchildren.
