VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg firefighters worked to extinguish a fire at a reportedly unoccupied home on Bowmar Avenue near Washington Street Monday afternoon, according to Fire Chief Derrick Stamps.

Crews responded around 4:21 p.m. to the location of Bowmar Avenue near Washington Street after receiving reports of the fire. As they left the station, firefighters saw thick smoke rising into the air. When they arrived, the structure was fully involved, with flames and dense smoke visible.

“In response to the escalating inferno, the crews quickly implemented a defensive strategy to combat the fire and protect nearby properties,” said Stamps.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
