Brandon Gilliam kicked his longest field goal on Saturday
MONTGOMERY, AL – Vicksburg native and former Warren Central High School football player Brandon Gilliam kicked his longest field goal on Saturday. Gilliam, who plays for Alabama State University, kicked a 49-yard field goal in the first quarter to put the Hornets up 3-0.
Gilliam also hit field goals from 23, 28, and 37 yards as well as kicking two successful extra points in the 26-21 win over Bethune Cookman. 2024 marks Gilliam’s first season at ASU as the starting kicker. He played one season at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi where he made 16-of-24 field goals with a long of 44 in 2023.
Gilliam also made 38-of-39 extra points and scored 86 points last year. He also averaged 33.2 yards on 45 punts. In 2022, Gilliam played at East Central Community College in 2022 season where he made 8-of-11 field goals with a long of 38 and was 15-of-17 on extra points.
Alabama State will host Florida A&M on Saturday for their homecoming game which will begin at 2 p.m.
