Brett Morgan leads West Point to a State Championship Game

West Point, Miss.-Vicksburg native Brett Morgan led West Point High School to a North State Championship on Friday after defeating Cleveland Central 14-7. The Green Wave will now move on the the State Championship Game which will be held next Friday.

Morgan is in his first year as Head Coach of West Point where they currently have a 10-3 record.

Last night’s game remained close as both teams were scoreless throughout the first quarter. Quintin Thompson got West Point on the board first in the second quarter after a 7-yard touchdown run. Cleveland Central responded with a touchdown just before halftime to tie the game at 7-7.

After a muffed punt in the third quarter, Shamane Clark hit Colt Whitacre on an 8-yard option pass to get the final score as the Green Wave defense held their own throughout the win.

In the 2024 season, Morgan has led West Point to a district championship, and a north state championship as they will now move on to play in the state championship. The Green Wave will face Gautier High School on Friday at the University of Southern Mississippi.
