Calvin White: 1961-2025

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Funeral services for Calvin White are to be held on Sunday, Mar. 16 at 12 p.m. The Reverend Kevin Winters will officiate in the chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Interment shall follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15 in the funeral home from 5 to 6 p.m.
Calvin White passed away on Tuesday, Mar. 4 following a sudden illness, he was 64. White worked for GNB Battery Co., Foam Packaging, Warren County and the City of Vicksburg. White was known for being a diehard Dallas Cowboys Fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elijah White and Hattie Mary Jones Haynes and his brother Johnny Lee James. He is survived by his sister Juliet Maxey and her husband Rueben Maxey of Vicksburg a niece, Jennier Iwuagwu and nephew Rueben Maxey .

W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home has been an integral part Vicksburg since 1894. Founded by William Henry and Lucy Jefferson, the first African American funeral director in the state of Mississippi. Grandmother Lucy Jefferson was a leader in education.

W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home has been in the same location for over a half century. The business is co-owed today by family members James E. Jefferson, Jr., and his uncle, Robert. Sr.
