Former PCA Soccer Coach Llopis has passed away

Vicksburg, Miss.-Former Porter’s Chapel Academy Head Soccer Coach Jose Llopis has passed away. The news of Coach Llopis’ death was announced over the weekend.
Coach Llopis coached many athletes during his time as the Head Coach at PCA. VDN reached out to Principal Blake Purvis at PCA about their former coach.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Coach Llopis,” Purvis said. “Coach Llopis was loved and respected by each of his players and fellow coaches.”We are forever grateful for his willingness to lead our soccer program with dignity and pride during his tenure. “We ask that everyone join us in praying for his son, Daniel, 2023 graduate of PCA, his wife Margie, and the rest of Llopis family during this time.”
A few years before his death, Coach Llopis was able to coach is son, Daniel, at PCA before he graduated in 2023.
Obituary:
Jose’ Luis Llopis passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 71.
Jose’ was born on December 16, 1953, the son of the late Angel Llopis and Trinidad Agud Llopis. He retired from ERDC after 30 years of service. He was a soccer coach for Porters Chapel Academy and also served as a referee for the soccer community. He was an avid runner and also a tour guide around the city of Vicksburg.
He is survived by his wife Margie Oliver Llopis, son Daniel Joseph Llopis, brother Angelo Llopis (Bonnie), nephew David Llopis, niece Amy Amenta (Bryan), and great-nieces Amy Amenta and Elnora Amenta.
