Candidates Forum set for May 15 ahead of Vicksburg Municipal Election

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The candidates running for office in the Municipal Election on June 3 have been invited to a candidates forum at the Warren County Courthouse on May 15 at 6 p.m.

Running for mayor are incumbent George Flaggs Jr., Kasman Massey and Willis Thompson. Ward 1 candidate T.J. Mayfield is running unopposed, while Ward 2 candidates are Vickie Bailey and incumbent Alex Monsour.

The Vicksburg Daily News will live stream the event.

In a press release, forum representative Bobbie Bingham Morrow said:

“Members of the Vicksburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., have partnered with the First Mississippi Chapter of Blacks In Government; the Vicksburg Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP); the Vicksburg Voter Initiative of the Medgar and Angela Scott Foundation; Omicron Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; and Mu Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., to host a Meet the Municipal Candidates Forum.

Please mark your calendars for Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. to participate at the Warren County Courthouse Circuit Courtroom, 1009 Cherry Street, Vicksburg, MS. This Forum will provide the opportunity for voters to get to know the candidates and provide an opportunity for the candidates to get their message to voters. All candidates for Mayor, Ward 1 Alderman, and Ward 2 Alderman whose names will appear on the June 3, 2025, General Election ballot have been invited to participate.”

The forum traditionally includes an opportunity for the community to submit questions for the candidates.
