Pearl, Miss.-Heather Casey earned her first win as Warren Central’s Head Basketball Coach on Thursday in a 34-30 victory against Pearl. Tonight’s win is WC’s first victory since 2023 after going winless last year.

“It feels great to get that first one finally and get the elephant out of the room in a sense,” Coach Casey said. “I am really happy for the girls. They show up and work hard each day, and I was so excited to see them win. It’s just step one to us growing and getting better.”

The Lady Vikes were down 15-14 by halftime as Camara Evans led the way while Joniya Scroggins hit a major 3-pointer. In the second half, Arrionna Jenkins stepped up inside the paint while Evans added 11 points of her own in the fourth quarter.

Evans led WC with 16 points while Jenkins finished with six. Ka’Ryn Henderson put up four points while Keasia Williams and Scroggins both had three points each. Madison Ward also contributed two points.

Casey took over the program back in April and the Lady Vikes are much more competitive since she has been named Head Coach. The Lady Vikes(1-5) will host Clinton on Friday.
