Catfish Row Museum Honoring Inspirational Women Of Vicksburg During Women’s History Month
This Women’s History Month the Catfish Row Museum will honor some of the inspirational women of Vicksburg.
Today, the museum is highlighting a woman named Frances Vick Willis Johnson (1855 – 1931).
She was a true philanthropist. In 1923, she dedicated buildings and land to establish the Junius Ward Johnson Memorial YMCA.
In 1924, she funded the construction of the Jackson Street YMCA, serving Black citizens.
The YMCA is celebrating 100 years this month.
