City recognizes autistic student authors

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The City of Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen recognized eight outstanding student authors from Warrenton Elementary School.

The students all have autism and wanted to create a book showing the world as they view it.

At the regular BOMA meeting held Friday, April 10, the students were presented special certificates and medals from the Mayor.

Mayor Willis Thompson said he had the pleasure of meeting the students and enjoyed learning and painting with them during his visit to their book unveiling at the elementary school earlier in the year.
