Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services campaign in partnership with Mississippi Highway Patrol remind teens to put the phone down, pay attention to the road and Make Good Choices behind the wheel not just Prom weekend but every weekend.

Their campaign, PROM, is Please Return On Monday. The full PROM message is: Please Return on Monday -in the same condition you left. YOUR choices today impact YOUR tomorrow.

For several years, they have toured schools around the state advocating for smart decisions during one of the highlights of senior year. Prom.

Several studies, along with state troopers, report Mississippi ranking as one of the top states for fatal teen crashes. According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation, for drivers 15-19 years old involved in fatal crashes, 21% were distracted by the use of cell phones. Encourage teens to put down the phones and pay attention to driving.

Locally, high schools have tried to help remind students to stay safe for Prom season. Warren Central High School has even recreated a car crash in front of campus to help teens have a clear understanding of the consequences of unsafe driving.
